Don Maxwell

Don Maxwell was born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania on April 13, 1930. He is married and has five grown children. During his retirement years he watched as a man worked on a lathe during a TV program making salad bowls. He has always been fascinated with woods of many kinds and had only made toys and gifts for the grandchildren and family members. After taking lessons on the art of woodturning he has found his niche and continues to produce a different piece each and every time he stands in front of his lathe.

He has been a member of the Tri-State Woodturners for the past 6 years. Some of his work has been shown at AVA, Creative Arts Museum in Dalton, Georgia and Catoosa County Library.

From many different kinds of wood he has designed and made vases and bowls of all shapes and sizes including his most recent addition of urns used for cremanes. Dogwood, magnolia, walnut, and box elder are among his favorite varieties
